I’m Marine and I’m thrilled that you’re here.
I’m a passionate facilitator and curriculum designer living in Paris, France. By creating Rethinking Normal, my mission is to provide educators with valuable resources to help them design and deliver liberatory learning experiences. These resources aim to offer answers to questions I’ve spent years exploring:
- How can I design a robust dialogue-based and anti-oppressive learning journey?
- What transformative activities can I facilitate with my students?
- What are effective ways to address student pushback?
- How can I foster more student interaction and dialogue?
- What steps can I take to create a safer classroom environment?
- What are other facilitators/teachers doing in the realm of liberatory education?

My journey into education
My journey into the realm of liberatory pedagogy began when I participated in a feminist dialogue group in college and experienced the life-changing potential of critical, dialogic education. The profound impact of that learning experience set me on a lifelong path dedicated to the study of dialogue, social justice, and pedagogy.
During my college years, I developed my teaching skills through volunteer work with organizations such as Peer Health Exchange, Generation Citizen, the Institute for Immigrant Concerns, and Planned Parenthood. After graduating with a B.A. in Political Science & Gender Studies from Barnard College, I was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship in 2015 to further my research in gender justice and the LGBTQ+ issues in Argentina.
In 2018, I returned to France and ventured into freelance consulting, specializing in curriculum design and facilitation for liberatory education. In this capacity, I’ve had the privilege of designing and delivering workshops for hundreds of young people and adults at the American School of Paris, the International School of Paris, St. Stephen’s School, and a variety of corporate settings through my ongoing work with Fearless Futures.
Through my work with schools (which you can learn more about here), I have become an affiliated consultant with the Council of International Schools in the fields of ‘Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’ and ‘Curriculum Design and Delivery.’
In 2022, I accomplished a long-time goal by earning a master’s degree in education from the Institute of Humane Education at Antioch University. My studies were focused on crafting experiential, social justice-based curricula.
